I was first elected to Dryden council in 1991 and I was appointed as Chairman of Public Works.  I was re-elected in 1994 and moved to Finance.  In 1997, I was elected as the first Mayor of the amalgamated City of Dryden which consisted of the former Township of Barclay and Town of Dryden.

Business and Professional History:

In 2004, elected as Federal Member of Parliament for the Kenora Riding and re-elected in 2006. During my tenure as MP my portfolio consisted of Minister of Indian and Northern Affairs and Minister of Veterans Affairs, Chairman of Forestry and National Highway Strategy Caucuses.

Owner of family commercial bait business that has been in operation for 63 years in Dryden.

Personal Background:

My wife Carole and I have raised our 3 children; Sheena, Megan and Cody here in Dryden.

Hobbies and Interests:

Fishing and hunting.  Golf is still a struggle, but I try.
