There are a number of boards and committees that support the community and the City of Dryden's Mayor and Council.

The City of Dryden Working Circle

The "Working Circle" is an advisory committee to the City of Dryden Council with the purpose of improving indigenous relationships through strategies, outcomes and action items that increase the City of Dryden's diversity and inclusiveness.

Committee of Adjustment & Property Standards Committee

The City of Dryden's Committee of Adjustment considers minor variances to the City’s Zoning By-law where an existing or proposed development does not fully comply with zoning regulations. The Committee must approve a variance before a building permit can be issued.

The Committee also serves as the Property Standards Committee, hearing appeals related to property standards orders and helping support safe, well-maintained, and livable properties throughout the City.

Serving on the Committee is a meaningful way for residents to contribute to Dryden’s future and participate directly in local decision-making. No formal planning experience is required - just a willingness to review information, consider community impacts, and help make fair, balanced decisions.

The Dryden OPP Detachment Board 1

The Dryden OPP Detachment Board 1 is committed to keeping the community informed of policing issues and concerns in the City of Dryden through quarterly and annual reporting to the public and Council. Priorities for the Board include determining objectives and priorities for the detachment, monitoring the performance of the detachment, and reviewing reports from the detachment commander regarding policing provided by the detachment.

Dryden Public Library Board

In accordance with the Ontario Public Libraries Act, the Dryden Public Library Board must seek to provide a comprehensive and efficient public library service that reflects the community’s unique needs. They are responsible for setting policy and overseeing operations. The Library Board is also in charge of hiring the Dryden Public Library’s CEO. The CEO is responsible for carrying out directions from the Library Board and managing the day-to-day operations of the Library.

Dryden Tourism Development Board

The Dryden Tourism Development Corporation (DTDC) is seeking up to 2 community volunteers to serve on its Board of Directors. This is an opportunity for members of the public to help guide tourism development in Dryden and to contribute to initiatives that support the City’s broader economic development and visitor economy goals. Citizen appointments to the Board are made by Council and the Board’s by-law provides for a maximum of 2 director positions to be held by residents of the City of Dryden.

The Board is responsible for overseeing the activities and affairs of the DTDC, including strategic planning, business planning, annual budgets, and corporate policies and procedures. Directors are appointed for terms of up to 2 years or until the office is vacated and a successor is appointed. Board members serve on a volunteer basis without remuneration, although reasonable expenses may be reimbursed, where appropriate.

Board members are expected to act honestly, in good faith, and in the best interests of the DTDC, while exercising sound judgment, care and diligence. Directors must also comply with conflict-of-interest requirements.

Ideal candidates will have an interest in tourism, community development and promoting Dryden as a destination. Experience in tourism, business, events, marketing or community engagement would be considered an asset.

Museum Advisory Board

Along with Museum staff, directors on the Museum Advisory Board review and make recommendations to Council about the standards, policies, operations, maintenance, future development, collections, long-term planning goals, rules and regulations of the Dryden & District Museum. The Board also supports the Museum in creating and carrying out its Vision and Mission Statement.
